WOYWW? Stencil!

I needed a creative jumpstart so I took an online stencil class. Not a lot new to me and still it got the creative juices flowing.
That blank rolodex card needs to be transformed into an "in the bleak Midwinter" swap!
I mostly got into pastes. I made a sample of all the mediums I had and how well they took to stencils.
While all this has been going on, the world is still turning and it has snowed 1.3"

If you are in the SE States, come visit me this weekend at the Heirloom's Rubber Stamp and Scrap Fest in Lawrenceville, GA.
I'll be demoing many of the new Spellbinders Dies and a bunch of other fun stuff with Marco's Paper.
I'll also have some fiber themed stamps for sale-Wool you?
I hear Julia saying, "keep it short".

Thanks for visiting and comments and questions always welcome!

Stenciled Day 2- Hunter Gatherer

Resolute to buy nothing for this class, I had a great time, hunting and gathering from the four corners of my kingdom, all the stencils I have acquired and almost never used over the years.

The techniques presented are not new to me, and
****beginners mind*****
I'm following directions- in my own way- and enjoying using what I have to explore getting stenciled images on paper.

Left is watercolor using a stencil brush through a T!m Hotz stencil. Quote and bees by Quietfire Design. The paper is 140lb watercolor postcard.

This stencil is cut out of 95lb paper with punch all over the page punch.

The stenciling is done with colored pencil. I thought it needed some punch, so I outlined with glitter pens. The Quote is simply stamped with VersaFine Onyx and thermal embossed clear.

I really like this one.
First I stamped the sentiment with VersaMark and thermal embossed in white.
After taping down the mug stencil, I stamped the stars through the stencil, then colorized with Distress inks using daubers.

A fab by-product of the class is building up a stash of cards!

Stencil Class

I struggle with stencils on paper.
I did a bunch of wall stenciling years ago, multi layers, cut my own, standing on ladders....
I recently sold my house and I guess the new folks will paint over them.

I'm taking this Stencil Class to learn something- and you have to play to win! so day 1 here is a quickie- 10 minutes, and I promise to keep up( fingers crossed behind my back)

It will be a birthday card for the Montreat PCUSA Women's Circle Birthday list.

Rubber stamp quote by Quietfire Design.
The frame is from the Happy Family Days set. The area was masked with a post-it note before inking

The stencil is one of those thin plastic ones I"m always afraid i am going to ruin by inking it.

Really simple, Distress Inks applied with the blending tool in a pouncing motion.

I spritzed it with Perfect Pearls Heirloom gold mist- mistake- Oh well. It looks dirty. I won't tell if you won't. I don't think Ann reads my blog!!

Tip #1- Don't be in a rush. Tape it down.

Still learning after all these years....The Watermark

When I moved to the Mac side, I lost my Photoshop and my Quietfire Design watermark.
Google to the rescue, I downloaded an add on to iMovie that lets me add the watermark when I export the photo's.

These are both altered 15 minute wonders, featuring the newest Quietfire Design Stamp Set and you can read more about it

Be warm, be well, be all you can be in 2014 and stay teachable!
